The village Patince

History of the village

  • 1268 – First mention of the village. Name at that times – “zem Poth”
  • 1444 – Patince became colony called “Path colony”
  • 1498 – 1616 – Patince belonged to rulers called “de Path”
  • 18th century – surrounding of Patince is property of Pálfy family. Patince were called “Pustá pri Dunaji”. It had 237 inhabitants, mainly Catholics. In the neighbourhood was situated a large estate with pheasants.
  • 1957 – Patince became an independent village
  • June 5 1965 – The water barrier between Patince and Radvaň/Dunajom was torn up on the length of 50 meters. From Komárno to Kolárovo was flooded about 10.000 hectares. The barrier was reconstructed on July 5 1967 thanks to Czechoslovak and Hungarian army.

Inhabitants

The village Patince has about 500 inhabitants. Their livelihood was always agriculture and they excelled especially in cultivating of strong tobacco, wheat and maize. They also devoted to fishing in the nearby Danube or needlework of specific pattern called “Toledo“.

Location and climate

The village Patince is situated in the location with the longest sunshine, 15 km east of Komárno. It is the southernmost village in Slovakia with the historically highest temperatures measured.
